Hednesford Town v Rugby Town

Tuesday 17th September see FA Cup football return to Keys Park when Hednesford Town entertain Rugby Town in their Second Qualifying round replay knowing the winners will travel to either Shifnal Town or Redditch United in the next round. Their replay takes place tonight, Monday 16th September.

Saturday’s game ended in a 2-2 draw. Trey Charles opened the scored direct from a corner in the 37th minute with Manny Duku equalising with virtually the last kick of the first half. The same player put Hednesford ahead in the 67th minute from Rob Stevenson’s cross only for Charles to level things up in the 76th minute. The crowd at Butlin Road was 545.

The last time that Rugby visited Keys Park was on 10th April 2014 in the Southern Premier League. A Tyrone Barnett hat-trick accompanied by a goal from Elliott Durrell and a brace from Ross Dyer gave The Pitmen a 6-0 win which confirmed relegation for Rugby.

Dom McHale missed Saturday’s game due to injury, but Josh Endall was included in the squad for the first time this season following his return to fitness.

Manager Steve King said “On Saturday we had the chances to go three or four up but never took them. We will need to be at the top of our game to progress in the replay”.

Admission to Tuesday’s game will be the usual prices of £11 adults, £8 concessions/disabled with carer, £3 13-17, £3 10-12 accompanied by an adult and free for under 10s accompanied by an adult. Remember that season tickets are not valid for this fixture, but advance tickets can be purchased via the Fanbase app. Car parking is £3 cash only and gates open at 6.30pm for a 7.45pm kick off.
